Overview

Final determination

On 26 May 2022 the AER released its final determination on the Default Market Offer (DMO) prices for 2022–23.

The Residential Usage Profiles spreadsheet is provided for retailers. It contains daily usage information set out in 30-minute intervals, for the purposes of calculating annual prices for residential Time of Use (TOU) customers. It contains the same information as Appendix E of our Final Determination.

Consultant reports

ACIL Allen Consulting has supported us in the design of a forecasting approach for wholesale and environmental costs. A report, Wholesale energy and environment cost estimates for DMO 4 final determination, by ACIL Allen Consulting was published alongside the final determination on 26 May 2022.

We have published a spreadsheet of ACIL Allen’s modelling data for the cost of energy for interested stakeholders to understand its forecasts. The information contained in the modelling data is also set out in the ACIL Allen report for our final determination.

We engaged Frontier Economics to undertake a review of the DMO wholesale forecast methodology. We have published its report Review of retail wholesale energy cost estimation methodology alongside the final determination.

Models

The cost assessment model (the model) calculates the wholesale electricity, network and environment regulation costs faced by retailers for 2022–23 for each area and customer type. We have provided the model for stakeholders interested in understanding how we have applied these inputs to calculate the DMO price. The information contained in the model is also set out in the DMO 2022–23 final determination.
