In December 2018 the AER published the first Rate of Return Instrument (2018 Instrument).
The intent of the rate of return annual updates is to provide stakeholders with information on rate of return data, particularly time series market data, showing changes since the publication of the 2018 Instrument. We have prepared the tables and figures in each of the updates using our existing calculation approaches, as used to inform the 2018 Instrument, so that stakeholders can compare changes in market data on a consistent basis.
The annual updates are one element of our proposed pathway to the 2022 Rate of Return Instrument.
The first annual update was published on 10 December 2019.
The second annual update was published on 2 December 2020.
The third annual update was published on 3 December 2021.
