On 2 December 2020 the AER released its Rate of Return annual update for 2020.

Each annual update provides data that feeds into other rate of return processes, and so there is no specific submission period on this update.

Submissions on the interpretation of data in this annual update or implications for the 2022 Rate of Return Instrument should be made to one of two areas:

• Where a working paper addresses that topic area, in response to that working paper.
• Otherwise, where a topic is not selected for a working paper, during the active phase of the 2022 review (commencing in mid-2021, as set out in the Pathway to 2022 position paper).
