On 7 July 2017, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) approved an application from Pumicestone Blue CTS 33280 (Pumicestone Blue) for an individual exemption from the requirement to hold a retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law.
Background
On 17 May 2017, the AER accepted an application for an individual exemption from Pumicestone Blue from the requirement to hold a retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law to sell energy at 111 Bulcock Road, Caloundra QLD.
Submissions on Pumicestone Blue's application closed 15 June 2017.
Variation of conditions 2021
On 20 July 2021 the AER proposed to vary the conditions of Pumicestone Blue's exemption. Submissions closed Friday 13 August 2021. No submissions were received.
On 12 October 2021 the AER varied Pumicestone Blue's exemption conditions to include a new condition.
Cancellation of exemption
On 22 March 2023 the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) accepted an application from Pumicestone Blue CTS 33280 (Pumicestone Blue) to cancel the individual exemption it was granted on 7 July 2017 for the sale of electricity at Pumicestone Blue. Pumicestone Blue requested the cancellation of the exemption on the grounds that energy is now being supplied at 111 Bulcock Road Caloundra, QLD by an authorised retailer.
The AER, in accordance with clause 20 of schedule 2 of the National Gas Law (as applied by section 8 of the National Energy Retail Law), has a general power to repeal any decisions that it is entitled to make.
The process to cancel an individual exemption is similar to the application process. When an application has been accepted it is open to submissions for a minimum 20 business day consultation period, after which time the AER will approve or refuse the application for cancellation.
