AER draft decision and Directlink's revised proposal

On 27 September 2024, we released our draft decision for Directlink's initial proposal. We held a public forum on our draft decision on 14 October 2024. On 2 December 2024 Directlink submitted its revised proposal.

Interested stakeholders are invited to make a submission on our draft decision and the revised proposal by 17 January 2025. Submissions should be sent to directlink2025ataer [dot] gov [dot] au (Directlink2025[at]aer[dot]gov[dot]au).

Directlink's proposal

On 30 January 2024 Directlink submitted its 2025–30 Regulatory Proposal. We published an Issues Paper on 26 March and held an online public forum on 10 April 2024.

Stakeholder submissions on Directlink's 2025–30 Regulatory Proposa and our Issues Paper closed on 15 May 2024.

Background

Directlink is an electricity transmission interconnector between Queensland and New South Wales.

Under the National Electricity Rules (NER) Directlink must submit its next electricity transmission revenue proposal to the AER by 31 January 2024 for the 5 year regulatory control period from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2030.

Prior to this, the NER required us to review the current Framework and approach paper that applies to Directlink for the 2025–30 period and decide whether to amend or replace it. On 3 July 2023 the AER published the final Framework and Approach for Directlink.
