On 23 February 2024, Power and Water Corporation (Power and Water) applied for an exemption from sections 139 and 140 of the National Gas Law (NGL) for its McArthur River Mining Pipeline. On 14 June 2024, Power and Water provided a revision to its application, requesting an exemption from section 141 of the NGL.

• Section 139 of the NGL prohibits a service provider from carrying on a related business.
• Section 140 of the NGL requires that no marketing staff of a service provider is an takes part in a related business, and vice versa.
• Section 141 requires a service provider to keep separate accounts.
