The AER has considered an application from Simply Energy to include additional messages, not required by the Better Bills Guideline (Guideline), among Tier 1 information (or on the front page) on their revised customer bills.
The AER partially approved Simply Energy's application, allowing the inclusion of two hyperlinked 'My Account' and 'Pay Now' buttons subject to the condition that the buttons are located below all of the prescribed Tier 1 information set out in the Guideline.
The AER did not approve the inclusion of three additional website links among Tier 1 information.
Update: on 3 May 2024, following a request from Simply Energy (now known as ENGIE), the AER decided to vary this decision, with effect from 20 May 2024. The extent of this variation is to replace the hyperlinked button labelled 'MyAccount' with 'MyENGIE'.
