As part of our ongoing improvement to our benchmarking reports, we are refining elements of the benchmarking methodology and data in consultation with industry and other interested parties.

Our first area of refinement is the benchmarking of transmission electricity network service providers. In April 2017 we released an issues paper that outlines the key areas of transmission benchmarking we are examining and asks questions for input. The issues paper was prepared by our economic benchmarking consultant, Economic Insights.

Submissions to the AER's transmission benchmarking issues paper closed on 24 May 2017.

On 31 May 2017, we held an industry workshop to discuss responses received from interested parties to the issues paper.

On 10 August 2017, we released a position paper of our transmission benchmarking review, prepared by our consultant, Economic Insights. The position paper draws on the stakeholder submissions to the previous issues paper and workshop discussion and presents our consultant's proposed approach.
