On 14 October 2014 the AER released a revised Retailer authorisation guideline for consultation. The revisions streamline the guideline, simplifying the introductory section and providing further details to applicants about the AER's assessment process.
The AER is proposing that under the revised guideline, businesses will now be required to provide more specific information when addressing the entry criteria in applications for retailer authorisation. For example, under the revised guideline businesses will no longer be asked whether services are conducted in-house or out-sourced but will have to advise how retail activities are conducted.
