Compliance Bulletin no. 8 - Confidentiality requirements for energy, metering and NMI standing data highlighted two compliance issues pertaining to disclosure of confidential information by participants in the National Electricity Market (NEM). The first was retailers providing agents undertaking customer acquisition activities on their behalf with access to National Metering Identifier (NMI) standing data. The second was distributors providing direct access to energy or metering data to consumers with smart meters. Since Compliance bulletin no. 8 was published, the National Electricity Rules have been changed to allow access in both circumstances. Therefore, this bulletin is no longer necessary and has been withdrawn.
The AER has also clarified the status of Compliance Bulletin No. 6 - Instrument transformer testing in relation to Instrument transformer testing following changes to the National Electricity Rules which came into effect on 1 December 2017.
Compliance bulletins assist the AER in its aim to work co-operatively with NEM participants to help them understand their obligations under the national energy framework and achieve high levels of compliance.
