On 31 March 2014, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) accepted an application from Zero Cost Solar Pty Ltd for an individual electricity exemption from the requirement to hold a retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law. Submissions on Zero Cost Solar's application for an individual exemption closed on 7 May 2014.
On 27 June 2014, the AER granted an individual exemption to Zero Cost Solar for electricity.
