The EBSS released in September 2007 applied/applies to:
- TransGrid and Transend in the 2009–14 regulatory control period
- Powerlink in the 2012–17 regulatory control period
- ElectraNet in the 2013–18 regulatory control period
- SP AusNet in the 2014–17 regulatory control period.
The AER released a new version (version 2) of the efficiency benefit sharing scheme in November 2013 as part of the better regulation reform program. This scheme will apply to both distribution and transmission network service providers, in regulatory control periods commencing after November 2013.
