On 5 April 2024, the AER made Annual Information Orders (Orders) applying to electricity distribution and transmission networks, and interconnectors for the 2024-25 regulatory year onwards.
The information requirements set out in the transmission Information Guideline (this Guideline) have been incorporated into the Order for transmission networks and supersedes the information requirements in this Guideline.
On 27 March 2025, the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) made a rule change removing the requirement to publish the transmission Information Guideline. As such, this Guideline is no longer current.
Background
The Electricity Transmission Network Service Providers Information Guideline (Information Guideline) sets out the information that a transmission business must include in its annual statement to the Australian Energy Regulator.
We reviewed the 2007 Information Guideline and found some reporting obligations are now duplicated in the Better Regulation regulatory information notices. Further, other reporting requirements are now redundant or not aligned with the current regulatory framework. To address these issues we propose amending the Information Guideline to rationalise the annual reporting requirements for transmission businesses.
On 10 December 2014, we released the draft Electricity Transmission Network Service Providers Information Guideline (Version 2) and accompanying Explanatory Statement.
We received one submission from Grid Australia which we have taken into consideration when preparing the final guideline.
On 2 April 2015, we released the final Electricity Transmission Network Service Providers Information Guideline (Version 2) and accompanying Explanatory Statement.
