On 29 January 2016, TasNetworks submitted its distribution regulatory proposal and supporting information to the AER. The proposal sets out the revenue TasNetworks proposes to collect from Tasmanian electricity consumers through distribution charges from 2017 to 2019.

The forthcoming regulatory control period for TasNetworks distribution business will run for 2 years, from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2019. This is instead of the usual 5 year regulatory control period. The two year regulatory control period will allow TasNetworks to align the regulatory control periods of its distribution and transmission businesses. The AEMC approved TasNetworks' proposed change to the length of the regulatory control period in its final rule determination issued on 9 April 2015.

On 29 September 2016, we released our draft decision on TasNetworks' regulatory proposal for the 2017-19 regulatory control period. The AER held a public forum in Hobart on 18 October 2016 to discuss our draft decision with stakeholders; we have published the agenda and slide packs presented.

On 2 December 2016 TasNetworks submitted its revised regulatory proposal. We published our final decision on TasNetworks' distribution determination for the 2017-19 regulatory control period on 28 April 2017.
