QEnergy Limited (QEnergy) was transitioned to a retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Regulations. A full list of transitioned retailers is available in Schedule 2 of the Regulations.
On Thursday 15th of June 2023, an order was made in the Supreme Court of Queensland for the winding up of QEnergy Limited. This constituted a Retailer of Last Resort (RoLR) event under the Retail Law.
Under section 142 of the Retail Law, the AER revoked QEnergy's electricity retailer authorisation (AER reference TE12034) on 16 June 2023. This means that, for the purposes of section 88 of the Retail Law, QEnergy must not sell electricity to a person for premises in New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia or Tasmania.
