On 27 November 2017, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) approved an electricity retailer authorisation application from Power Club Limited (Power Club) under the National Energy Retail Law (Retail Law).
On Tuesday 12 July 2022, Power Club was suspended from the National Electricity Market (NEM) by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) for failing to comply with AEMO requirements. This constituted a Retailer of Last Resort (RoLR) event under the Retail Law.
Under section 142 of the Retail Law, the AER revoked Power Club's electricity retailer authorisation (AER reference E17005) on 12 July 2022. This means that, for the purposes of section 88 of the Retail Law, Power Club must not sell electricity to a person for premises in New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia or Tasmania.
