On 25 May 2012, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) approved an application from Pacific Hydro Retail Pty Ltd (Pacific Hydro Retail) for electricity retailer authorisation under the National Energy Retail Law. The retailer authorisation will come into effect as and when the National Energy Retail Law is adopted in each participating jurisdiction.
Change of registered business name
On 4 November 2016, Pacific Hydro Retail Pty Ltd's legal name changed to Tango Energy Pty Ltd.
On 3 April 2023, Tango Energy Pty Ltd's legal name changed to Pacific Blue Retail Pty Ltd.
