In assessing this application, the AER considered that benefits of distributor and retailer partnership in implementing flexible export limits contributed to meeting the National Energy Objective. The AER also considered the expected costs and benefits of the waiver being granted.

On 12 April 2024, the AER granted the waiver to SA Power Networks, to provide services under all integration models of the market active solar trial. The waiver will expire at the end of the next year 31 December 2025 for SA Power Networks.
