On 20 August 2021, Energy Ministers agreed to reform the national gas regulatory framework to bring hydrogen blends, biomethane and other renewable gases within its scope.
Under the accelerated approach, Ministers tasked three work streams: jurisdictional officials, the Australian Energy Market Commission, and the Australian Energy Market Operator. All workstreams sought consultation and feedback on the draft regulatory package.
The AER made a submission on the Official's consultation paper on 19 May 2022.
More information on the extending the national gas regulatory framework to hydrogen blends and renewable gases review can be found on the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resource’s website.
