AER Energy update
Release date

In late June 2020, the Department of Energy and Mining released five papers for consultation on proposed updates to South Australia's Electricity (General) Regulations under the Electricity Act 1996.

The proposed updates aim to address the issue of falling minimum demand levels and voltage management in South Australia by introducing:

  • Remote disconnection requirements for distributed solar generation
  • Dynamic export limit requirements for distributed solar generation
  • New low voltage ride-through requirements for smart inverters
  • Smart meter minimum technical standards
  • Tariffs to incentivise energy use in low demand periods.

The AER provided its submission on 14 July 2020.
