On 24 January 2013 the National Generators Forum submitted a rule change request to the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) that sought amendments to the NER that would require DNSPs to annually publish on their websites, historical electricity load data for their networks at the zone substation level. Zone substations form part of the electricity distribution system and connect the higher voltage sub-transmission network with the lower voltage distribution network.
Consultation paper
On 27 May 2013 we provided a submission in response to the AEMC’s rule change consultation paper. The submission supported the proposal to publish historical electricity load data at the zone substation level.
Draft rule determination
On 29 January 2014 the AER made a submission to the AEMC’s draft determination on the proposal by National Generator’s Forum seeking amendments to the NER that would require DNSPs to annually publish historical electricity load data at the zone substation level. The AER considered it to be a desirable rule change that would increase transparency and assist connecting parties to efficiently connect to the network, supporting the objective of minimising barriers to access to technical data by connection applicants.
