On 28 July 2023, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) published its 2023 Inputs, Assumptions and Scenarios Report (IASR). This report contains the inputs, assumptions and scenarios that AEMO proposes to use in its 2024 Integrated System Plan (ISP) for the National Electricity Market (NEM).
On 28 August 2023, the AER has published a transparency review of the IASR. Our transparency review assesses the adequacy of AEMO’s explanation of how the inputs, assumptions and scenarios have been derived. Our review it is not intended to assess the merits of AEMO decisions, rather our role is to focus on the adequacy of AEMO’s explanation.
The report identifies some issues that require AEMO to provide further explanation in an addendum to their IASR, and to consult on these issues in the draft 2024 ISP.
This report is required one month after AEMO published its IASR.
