The Australian Energy Regulatory (AER) is required to publish a report whenever the 30-minute price for electricity exceeds $5,000/MWh. It also has an obligation to publish a report when the ancillary service price exceeds $5,000/MW for a sustained period. These reports identify and describe the factors contributing to the high prices, including rebidding, network issues or changes to demand and generator availability.
