On 19 October 2023, the AER instituted proceedings in the Federal Court alleging that CAM Engineering and Construction Pty Ltd (CAM Engineering) failed to comply with the National Energy Retail Law.
The AER alleges that CAM Engineering failed to become a member of the Energy and Water Ombudsman NSW scheme between 11 March 2021 and 21 July 2022, resulting in a breach of section 112(2) of the National Energy Retail Law, and leaving customers without vital consumer protections for over 16 months.
The AER is seeking declarations, penalties, an order for corrective disclosure and costs.
