On 11 October 2024 we published the issues paper for the 2025–26 DMO price determination (DMO 7).
The issues paper is the first step in the process in setting the upcoming DMO prices. Stakeholder engagement is a valuable input to our determination process.
The issues paper outlines several refinements we are considering to improve the methodology we will use to set DMO prices. As part of the issues paper consultation process we are seeking views on the following aspects:
- use of the 75th percentile estimate of modelled wholesale cost outcomes, length of the assumed book build period, and use of ASX options in the wholesale modelling process
- seeking feedback on alternatives to best estimate an assumed load profile given various methodological changes made by AEMO to the Net System Load Profile
- making our own retail cost data requests to capture a broader range of retailers (than captured by the existing ACCC dataset used in previous DMO decisions) to inform our retail costs and competition allowance calculations
- whether improving the residential Time of Use consumption patterns is feasible and desired by stakeholders
- whether to determine customer network costs under a blended network tariff approach.
