The Waratah Super Battery (WSB) project is an electricity network infrastructure project in NSW. The project increases the amount of power that can be transferred across the NSW transmission network to large population centres while maintaining the reliability of power supply and protecting the network. It is being delivered under the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap.

The project is being delivered in four parts. Two of these parts are delivered by entities identified from contestable procurement processes. Contestable procurement processes are competitive market procurement exercises, which involve the assessment and evaluation of confidential and competing binds to deliver the service from market participants. These processes promote competition which reveals the prudent, efficient, and reasonable costs of carrying out the project. They also reveal commercially sensitive information.

To protect the confidentiality of commercially sensitive information, we have agreed to redact some information in our revenue determinations for the contestable assessment processes. However, we strongly believe that consumers should be informed of the costs and benefits of network infrastructure projects they pay for. To balance both priorities, we have aggregated the annual and total payments for the two parts of the WSB project delivered via contestable procurement processes.

The remaining parts of the WSB project are delivered by Transgrid, which was selected to deliver the project directly by the NSW Minister for Energy. This document contains the annual and total payments for the non-contestable components, as well as the annual and total payments for the contestable components.
