Issues paper

The AER published an issues paper to initiate the Review of the AER exemptions framework for embedded networks.

The issues paper seeks stakeholder feedback on:

  • The risks and harms to consumers due to embedded networks
  • Potential benefits of embedded networks
  • Policy options for improving the framework, if harms are found to outweigh the benefits.

Stakeholder information session

As part of the consultation process for our Review of the AER Exemptions Framework for Embedded Networks, we held a stakeholder information session to discuss the purpose of our review, and provide a starting point for stakeholders to develop feedback.

The information session was held online, on Wednesday 13 December 2023. Around 100 stakeholders attended.

The session featured presentations by the AER, Tenants Union of NSW and The Energy Project. Slides from the AER's presentation and The Energy Project's presentation are below.

We also held a Q&A session for stakeholders. A summary of the questions we received and our responses (including those that we did not have time to answer on the day) is below.
