On 19 May 2022, the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) made a final rule that introduces a principles-based reporting framework for the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) to report on significant price outcomes. The final rule came into effect on 29 September 2022. As part of this rule change, the AER must develop and publish guidelines for the monitoring and reporting of significant price outcomes.
