On 24 July 2020 Jemena Electricity Network submitted an application to vary an existing waiver to extend the expiry date. On 19 August 2020 CitiPower/Powercor, United Energy and AusNet Services (Distribution) confirmed their intention to extend their respective waivers.
The waiver variation application requests the expiry date of the existing waivers be extended by six months from 31 December 2020 to 30 June 2021. The extension aligns with the six month extension to the current Victorian electricity distribution regulatory control period.
Background
In December 2017 we granted 'reclassification of services' waivers to a number of DNSPs, including Victorian DNSPs under clause 5.2 of the Guideline (in our original waiver decision). These waivers were granted where we considered that some services would likely be reclassified as regulated direct control services as part of the DNSPs' next revenue determination. The waivers allowed DNSPs to continue to provide these kinds of services to bridge the period between the Guideline compliance deadline of 1 January 2018 and the commencement of each DNSPs next regulatory control period.
