On 12 November 2003 the ACCC released transmission service standards guidelines. These guidelines form part of the ACCC's Statement of Principles for the Regulation of Transmission Revenue.

The guidelines outline the ACCC's approach to service standards within the revenue capping framework provided by the National Electricity Code. They also define reporting requirements.

The scheme outlined in the guidelines will provide incentives for the transmission companies to improve their service quality thus providing overall benefit to consumers of electricity.
