Under the Retail Law, the AER is responsible for monitoring, investigating, enforcing and reporting on compliance by regulated entities with obligations under the Retail Law and Rules. To support these functions, the Retail Law provides wide ranging information gathering powers and requires the AER to produce Compliance Reporting Procedures and Guidelines.
In June 2014, the AER commenced consultation on proposed amendments to the Compliance Procedures and Guidelines. A Notice of Draft Instrument was released on 13 June 2014 inviting submissions from interested stakeholders. The proposed amendments seek to refine the reporting framework and to improve the quality of reports submitted by regulated entities.
