On 7 January 2021, the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) received a rule change request from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) to simplify, streamline, and improve the efficiency of the ‘Rules consultation procedures’ in the National Energy Rules (NER) rule 8.9.
On 16 December 2021, the AEMC published a consultation paper seeking stakeholders’ views on how the consultation procedures in the electricity, gas and retail rules could be amended to facilitate robust, efficient and adaptable consultation.
The AER made a submission to the AEMC’s consultation paper on 3 February 2022.
