On 4 June 2020, the AEMC published an approach paper for the Electricity network economic regulatory framework review 2020.
The COAG Energy Council has requested that the AEMC conduct this review on an annual basis, and to consider whether the economic regulatory framework for electricity networks is sufficiently robust and flexible to continue to support the long term interests of consumers in a future environment of increased decentralised energy supply. The 2020 Review is the fourth such review under the standing terms of reference. The AEMC monitors changes and developments in the National Electricity Market and where necessary, recommends changes to the economic regulatory framework.
The AER provided its submission to the approach paper on 2 July 2020.
