On 13 February 2018, the AEMC published a Scoping Paper to initiate its first biennial review into liquidity in wholesale gas and pipeline trading markets. The reviews will enable the AEMC to track the progress and effectiveness of its gas reform package to support faster and more efficient gas trading and access to pipeline transportation along the east coast of Australia. In doing so the reviews will track the growth in liquidity in wholesale gas and pipeline trading markets.
As part of the process, the AEMC recommended that we publish a range of quantitative liquidity metrics on an ongoing basis.
Scoping paper
In our submission of 5 March 2018, we welcomed the opportunity to publish the quantitative liquidity metrics as it aligns well with our formal responsibility to publish performance reports into the operation of the markets.
