In March 2018, the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) published a consultation paper seeking stakeholder submissions on a rule change request made by the COAG Energy Council in October 2017. That rule change request is about establishing a register of Distributed Energy Resources (DER), following the ‘Visibility of Distributed Energy Resources in the National Electricity Market’ report published by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) in January 2017.

Draft determination and rule
On 26 June 2018 the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) published a draft rule determination and a draft rule in relation to a register of distributed energy resources and sought stakeholder submissions. The AER provided its submission to the AEMC on 7 August 2018.
