AER Energy update
Release date

In September 2016 the AEMC received a rule change request from the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Energy Council in relation to the contestability of energy services. The AEMC is also conducting concurrent consultation on a related rule change request submitted by the Australian Energy Council. The Australian Energy Council’s rule change request also seeks to promote greater contestability for a range of energy services, but proposes different solutions.

Consultation paper

On 15 December 2016 the AEMC commenced consultation on both rule change requests by releasing a single consultation paper and calling for submissions. The AER provided its submission to the AEMC on 1 March 2017.
