On 20 April 2010, the Ministerial Council on Energy (MCE) directed the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) to conduct a review of the arrangements for the provision and utilisation of electricity transmission services in the National Electricity Market (NEM), with a view to ensuring that the incentives for generation and network investment and operating decisions are effectively aligned to deliver efficient overall outcomes.

Second interim report
On 15 October 2012 we made a submission on the AEMC’s second interim report. The submission discussed three main areas: transmission planning, the proposed Optional Firm Access model, and connections to the network. The submission argued the AEMC’s proposals are a positive development for the market, even while issues remain in each of the three areas.
