In 2005, BHP Billiton took over the mining operation of the former WMC (Olympic Dam Corporation) at Roxby Downs. Under that purchase arrangement, BHP Billiton acquired control of the Olympic Dam network assets. These assets operated under a network exemption (NECA 0002/03) originally issued to WMC (Olympic Dam Corporation) by the National Electricity Code Administrator (NECA) in 2003.
In July 2016, BHP Billiton applied to register this network in its own name. As we do not allow duplicate registrations of physical network assets, this registration replaces the NECA 0002/03 exemption from the effective date of this registration. The status of the NECA registration has been amended to historical.
This exemption is for the whole of the BHP Billiton electricity network described in the locality plan labeled A3 PtAugusta OD.MXD, 27/06/2016, which network includes both transmission and distribution assets.
