The Wholesale energy market dispute resolution adviser (WEMDRA) advises all Registered participants in the declared wholesale gas market that it has established a dispute resolution panel (DRP) comprising Peter Gray SC and Greg Thorpe to decide on compensation claims.
The claims are for costs relating to the injection of gas scheduled at bid prices exceeding the administered price cap in the June and July 2022 billing periods. The claims total approximately $1.2 million.
Under rule 238 of the National Gas Rules, compensation awarded by a DRP is recoverable by the Australian Energy Market Operator from Market Participants and the declared transmission system service provider. Any recovery amounts will be included in a subsequent settlement statement. The question of the recovery of the costs of the DRP and the WEMDRA under rule 237(9) will be the subject of submissions.
The hearing will be a round table by Zoom on Wednesday 12 October 2022 starting at 10am EST.
