The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) is pleased to announce the membership of its new Customer Consultative Group (CCG) for 2021–24.
The CCG is a key source of consumer insights and intelligence for the AER, and helps to ensure consumers’ voices are heard and considered in our work and decisions. The CCG provides its participating organisations and individuals with the opportunity to inform the AER about issues that impact the groups they represent and gives members the opportunity to discuss key energy consumer issues with other consumer representatives.
Members are appointed to the CCG on the basis of their consumer expertise and knowledge and their ability to advise the AER on the energy issues affecting the customers they represent. In recruiting the new CCG, the AER sought to balance a variety of interests and perspectives with sector and jurisdictional representation.
The members appointed to the CCG 2021–24 are:
- ACT Council of Social Service
- COTA Australia
- Ethnic Communities Council of NSW
- Financial Counselling Australia
- Dr Georgina Davis (individual)
- Mark Henley (individual)
- NSW Business Chamber
- Public Interest Advocacy Centre
- Queensland Council of Social Service
- St Vincent de Paul Society
- Tasmanian Council of Social Service
- Tenants’ Union of NSW
- Thriving Communities Partnership.
The new CCG will be chaired by Elissa Freeman, who was appointed to the inaugural role in September.
The AER thanks the significant contributions of outgoing members of the CCG who provided the AER with valuable consumer insights and intelligence, and in particular, in the past two years, on-the-ground information about the impacts of COVID-19 on energy consumers.
