In this edition, our CEO Liz Develin talks about ‘New Reg’, the joint initiative between the AER, Energy Networks Australia and Energy Consumers Australia that sought to test an alternative way of developing an energy network’s revenue proposal through consumer engagement.
We also feature our investigation into Alinta Energy for alleged misconduct towards vulnerable customers. Our investigation has resulted in a significant improvement in the way Alinta deals with vulnerable customers, and a waiver of the debt for those impacted by the alleged misconduct.
Consultation on the 2022-23 Default Market Offer (DMO) price determination has begun. We have released an options paper on the methodology that will be adopted for the DMO, which will apply to households and small businesses in areas where there is no other retail price regulation – South Australia, New South Wales and south-east Queensland.
