The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has re-appointed Ms Shirli Kirschner as the Wholesale Energy Market Dispute Resolution Advisor for participants in the energy market. The appointment will take effect from 1 October 2021 and will facilitate important resolution of disputes between energy market participants, and between energy market participants and the Australian Energy Market Operator.
Dispute resolution frameworks for market participants are a requirement in the National Electricity Rules and National Gas Rules. The frameworks aim to facilitate simple, quick and inexpensive resolution of disputes to preserve the relationships between the parties and reduce the need for formal legal representation or the use of legal procedures.
