The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) today published an updated compliance check to reflect updated rules regarding metering installation timeframes that come into effect today.
The rules set out the responsibilities of retailers, distributors and metering coordinators for metering installations with shared fusing. The compliance check includes specific meter installation and repair timeframes for customers with shared fusing, and associated obligations for distributors to carry out requested planned interruptions to enable new meter installation or meter repairs within particular timeframes. Businesses must ensure that they have systems and processes in place to manage these obligations to provide timely rectification of metering installation malfunctions and installation of new meters for customers. The AER will continue its work in monitoring compliance with metering installation timeframes.
