The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has today released its draft working paper on energy network debt data.
This draft working paper is the first in a series that form part of our pathway to the 2022 rate of return instrument review.
The paper examines data on actual debt costs provided to us by regulated energy networks. We used this type of information in our 2018 rate of return instrument review. The paper identifies some possible improvements to how we analyse and present this data and discusses how we might use this information in the future when we set the regulated return on debt.
It is important we hear and understand the views of stakeholders on this working paper through the submission process.
Once submissions have been received the AER will produce a final working paper that will set out how we will utilise this information in the upcoming review.
