Powerlink Queensland (Powerlink) is a Queensland electricity transmission network service provider. The National Electricity Rules (NER) required Powerlink to submit its 2022–27 revenue proposal to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) by 31 January 2021. The 2022–27 regulatory control period runs from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2027.
On 28 January 2021, Powerlink submitted its 2022–27 revenue proposal to the AER. The proposal sets out the revenue Powerlink proposes to collect from its consumers through transmission network charges over the 2022–27 period.
On 30 September 2021, the AER published its draft decision on Powerlink's proposal. This was followed by an online public forum (pre-determination conference) on the draft decision on 13 October 2021.
On 19 November 2021, in response to our draft decision, Powerlink submitted its 2022-27 revised revenue proposal. Interested stakeholders were invited to make submissions to us in response to both our draft decision and Powerlink's revised revenue proposal by 14 January 2022. We received one submission, which is available on our website.
On 29 April 2022, the AER published its final decision on the revenue that Powerlink can recover from its consumers in the 2022–27 regulatory control period.
Updates
On 31 January 2023, the AER published its final decision on transmission pricing methodologies with amendments for system strength pricing (approved amended pricing methodology). The approved amended pricing methodology supersedes the pricing methodology approved in the AER’s 29 April 2022 final determination. All other aspects of the determination remain as per the AER’s 29 April 2022 final determination.
