On 10 September 2018, the AER published its latest Quarterly Compliance Report: National Electricity and Gas Laws.
The report summarises the AER’s compliance monitoring and enforcement activities under the National Electricity Law and the National Gas Law from 1 April to 30 June 2018.
It provides an overview of the results of the investigations, targeted compliance reviews and projects undertaken in the quarter.
The report’s executive summary flags the AER’s intention to publish compliance messaging ahead of the 2018-19 summer. This will focus on preparations for maintaining reliable electricity supply during that period. The AER intends to release its expectations regarding critical obligations under the National Electricity Rules and we invite market participant input.
Through these quarterly publications we seek to inform businesses of obligations under the national energy laws and encourage a culture of compliance. The AER’s Quarterly Compliance Reports seek to promote transparency and good industry practice across Australia’s wholesale energy sector.
