The Australian Energy Regulator today released the findings of its Retailer Compliance Audit Program, covering financial year 2017-18. Retailers are required to establish policies, systems and procedures to enable it to efficiently and effectively monitor compliance with the requirements of the National Energy Retail Law and Retail Rules.
AGL Energy, Simply Energy, Lumo Energy, Ergon Energy and Alinta Energy were audited for compliance with disconnection obligations, their monitoring and reporting systems and associated policies and procedures and a summary of findings. Where issues were identified, the AER is working with retailers to implement the remediation actions recommended by the auditors.
The AER’s audit program was established under the AER’s Compliance and Procedure Guideline and the AER’s Audit Practice Guide provide information on the audit program.
