The AER is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Mahony as the AER’s General Manager, Strategic Communications and External Affairs.
With consumer, industry and government expectations for the energy sector at an historic high, the AER is committed to engaging with the public, media and other stakeholders to provide the highest quality information about our work and guarantee transparency in our decision making.
Tim comes to the AER with over sixteen years senior management experience in government and federal politics; leading strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and media and community relations campaigns. He has highly developed corporate communications and engagement skills, working across jurisdictions in complex legislative and stakeholder-rich environments and has considerable experience within independent statutory authorities in commercially focused and regulatory contexts. He has previously worked with Tourism Australia and the Fair Work Ombudsman.
Tim is married with three daughters and lives in Sydney. He is also a board director for Our Lady of Mercy College, Parramatta and President of the St Kevin's Netball Club. He is a keen swimmer and sailor, and an enthusiastic spectator of many sports – rugby, cricket and netball in particular. He strums a bit and writes a bit.
