The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has extended the submission period for Essential Energy’s 2019-24 regulatory proposal by three months, to 30 April 2018.
Whilst this shortens the time the AER has to review Essential Energy's proposal, we consider that our assessment can be completed within the revised timeframe, consistent with our usual consultative and robust processes.
The AER has also welcomed recent actions by Essential Energy to resolve the outstanding issues arising from its appeal of its 2014-19 determination, which has been remitted back to the AER to be remade.
Essential Energy has advised it will be submitting a revised proposal for 2014-19 that will accept key aspects of the AER’s original determination. Essential Energy is proposing this approach as part of an overall package to facilitate price stability for its consumers over both the 2014-19 and 2019-24 regulatory control periods.
These actions have arisen from constructive discussions between Essential Energy, the AER and other stakeholders following a roundtable meeting facilitated by the AER in August 2017.
