The AER will be commencing its consultation on changes to the Retail Pricing Information Guidelines (‘Guidelines’) with a public forum in February. The Guidelines specify how energy retailers must present their prices when publishing or advertising their offers.
The AER advised it would consult on possible changes to these Guidelines during the recent AEMC retail rule change process regarding unilateral prices variations in market retail contracts.
As part of this review, the AER will consult on a number of possible changes that will seek to clarify retailer obligations under the Guidelines, and improve and standardise the information on Energy Price Fact Sheets to help consumers compare available energy offers.
